'Rio Blanca' (Oriental Lily)
Lily Bulb Description
Classification: Oriental Hybrid Lily (USDA Zones 5-9, the colder climates of this range must provide winter mulching.)Oh, what a beauty! We first saw this variety offered by a cut flower producer and fell in love. Our first flowers were used for a floral design in California and when the pure white, wax-like petals unfurled, we were delighted to see a very neat, crinkled edge, a romantic touch almost lost to the newer hybrids. Sweet and typical “oriental” scent, nice and spicy, with just an overtone of softness. Nectary center of each flower is lime green and the orange-brown anthers really add contrast. Average height for first year plants is 4 feet in our garden, but stems will become taller in succeeding years.
Far surpassing 'Casablanca' in grace and beauty (plus it does not need staking), 'Rio Blanca' has captured our hearts. 4 Feet. Late July
Bulb Size - Our standard for bulbs of this lily cultivar ranges from Premium-size" (16/18 cm) to Exhibition-size" (over 20 cm). Click
