'L. regale' - Species (Wild) Lily
Lily Bulb Description
Classification: Lilium Species (USDA Zones 5-9, colder climates w/winter mulch.)
(Chinese native) Beloved, funnel-shaped flowers, very popular for historic preservation sites for their "vintage" role in the evolution of the American landscape. These heavily-fragrant blooms are wonderful as a bridge between early Asiatics and late Oriental lilies. Culture same as Trumpet hybrids. White flowers with yellow throats, pale to dark pink outer coloring. Enchanting fragrance and easy-care.
'L. regale' is perfect in the herbaceous border planted among delphiniums and other July flowering perennials. Introduced to England from China in 1903, our seed grown stock comes from select parents showing greatest flower size and vigor. Grows an average of 5 feet tall, but can be much taller if left undisturbed for a few years, and given regular weeding, watering and fertilizing. 5 to 6 Feet. July.
ECONOMY 12-PACKS Size is smaller on these bulbs than we normally sell due to our cold and rainy spring and summer. Bulbs for next year’s catalog and web sales are in the ground, so these are not required for propagation. Expect one to three flowers at most during next summer, with many more to come in the years that follow. Plant with 4 inches of soil covering bulbs, even though they are smaller in size, they still need to be well-anchored against wind. Mulch for the winter (after soil freezes) in the Midwest and other severe-winter climates.
Availability subject to stock on hand, no backorders, order quickly to take advantage of this special offer.
