Lily Bulb Description
Named for Bastogne, Belgium, this city played a major roll in the WWII Battle of the Bulge. To this day, citizens still remember and honor the U.S. Solders who fought in this battle. This new Orienpet from Vletter den Haan Lelies in Holland, the same people that brought us Conca d' Or, Casablanca, and many other familiar names in garden lilies, is not yet a veteran of the garden, but is destined to be honored in the future along side its world famous companions from Vletter.
Here in our field, these flowers are a medium pink with a soft lavender overcast. Our soil is acidic which tends to intensify colors. Soils more to neutral to slightly alkaline may cause the lavender tones to be lighter in color. Color held very well in 80+ F. temps, but as we recommend with all pinks, in hot climates with temps in the mid 80's and higher in July, colors will be much stronger if planted in some light afternoon shade. The white, penciled edge remains through out the bloom. Large flowers, 8 to 10 inches are quite fragrant. Stems range from 3 to 4 feet but you should expect taller once fully established and you are feeding the bulbs.
Bulb Size - Our standard for bulbs of this Orienpet Hybrid Lily Bulb cultivar ranges from Premium-size" (16/18 cm) to Exhibition-size" (over 20 cm).
Classification: Orienpet Hybrid Lily Bulb (USDA Zones 5-9, lows to -15 F. Winter mulch recommended in colder climates)
